Photorealism

Photorealism is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic mediums, in which an artist studies a photograph and then attempts to reproduce the image as realistically as possible in another medium.

Cel Shading

Cel shading or toon shading is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make 3-D computer graphics appear to be flat by using less shading color instead of a shade gradient or tints and shades. This image is from a game called Jet Set Radio.

Abstraction

Abstraction is the process of taking away or removing characteristics from something in order to reduce it to a set of essential characteristics. 

Tetris is one of the very first games to contain Abstraction

Exaggeration is a representation of something in an excessive manner. This image is from a game called Xenoblade Chronicles which is on the Wii-U.
